Amanda Bossard, fresh out from Anchorage High School, in 1992 began studying marine biology. Bossard started her profession as a commercial seafood worker in 1999. Bossard began working with the ship F/V Sunset which was a 65' halibut schooner which was converted into a Salmon tender, for Murat Aritan. She was employed in commercial fishing since 1993. Bossard has been is married to Aritan and the couple has come together to prove their claims to the industry. The two are proponents of conserving renewable and sustainable marine resources. Otolith was created at the time of Philadelphia by Bella Bossard who is now mother to two kids aged 3 and 1, Bossard. Her husband and she are separated by five months, and more for her to concentrate on her financial goals and her environmental goals. Bossard, their son Andre and daughter Isabella will be returning back to Southeast Alaska every summer as deckhands in the wild salmon harvest. In the course of two months, Bossard, along with her daughter Isabella will use hooks and lines to fish for their target salmon. Aritan will then sell their seafood for processing locally.
